About This Course

This Competency Unit: Respond to Fire and Hazmat Emergency is designed to enable a person to function as a member of an emergency response team in order to meet and respond to fire and Hazmat emergencies. The competency elements covered in this competency unit are:
• Prepare for Fire and Hazmat emergencies
• Participate to contain fire emergencies
• Participate to contain Hazmat emergencies
• Assist in search and rescue operations.

Primarily, people who require such competencies are operators or technicians working in the plant, workshops in the process industry or industrial building.

This an elective competency unit under the Certificate in Process Technology. In this unit, learners can acquire the required competencies to function as a member of an emergency response team in order to meet and respond to fire and Hazmat emergencies in process plant. The competencies include working alone and in a team.
