About This Course

The South Asian Studies Programme aims to provide graduate education to transform our understanding of South Asia from within the Asian region. The Programme aims to nurture future Asian Studies specialists through a multi-disciplinary curriculum that combines breadth as well as depth. It aims to produce graduates with expert knowledge of the South Asian region that can be valuable in public policy, media, NGOs, civil society and higher education.

What You'll Learn

The MA research programme in South Asian Studies aims to impart advanced training to individuals who shall contribute to new knowledge in humanities and social sciences relating to the South Asian region. Within South Asian Studies the concentrations are: History and Politics; Political Economy and Development; Religion and Culture and Diaspora Studies. The training typically aims at exposing students to theoretical knowledge as well as applied aspects of the field, drawing upon extensive experience in the region itself.

A candidate for the MA programme in South Asian Studies must complete four courses as part of the coursework, which include a compulsory course, SN6770 Graduate Research Seminar. The candidate must prepare a thesis consisting of 30,000 words for the MA programme.
