About This Course
This unit covers basic fire fighting, rescue techniques and procedures while being a Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) member for buildings that can be utilised during an emergency.
What You'll Learn
This unit of competency is designed to allow the person to function as a member of an emergency response team in order to implement the emergency response skills during an emergency incident in buildings.
A competent individual will be able to successfully perform the following:
1. Interpret emergency response legislations and guidelines
2. Identify fire hazard scenarios and usage of fire protection system in buildings
3. Demonstrate the use of breathing apparatus according to BA wearer guidelines and entrapment procedures
4. Asses the emergency situation and conduct fire fighting to contain fire in high rise buildings
5. Participate in rescue and evacuation exercise
6. Handover incident and provide operational assistance to the appropriate body
