RESPOND TO FIRE AND HAZMAT EMERGENCY COURSE
About This Course
This Competency Unit: Respond to Fire and Hazmat Emergency is designed to enable a person to function as a member of a Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) in order to meet and respond to fire and Hazmat emergencies. The competency elements covered in this competency unit are:
• Prepare for Fire and Hazmat emergencies
• Participate to contain fire emergencies
• Participate to contain Hazmat emergencies
• Assist in search and rescue operations.
Primarily, people who require such competencies are operators or technicians working in the plant, workshops in the process industry or industrial building.
This is an elective competency unit under the WSQ Certificate in Process Technology. In this unit, learners can acquire the required competencies to function as a member of an Company Emergency Response Team in order to meet and respond to fire and Hazmat emergencies in process plant. The competencies will be applicable for individual or working in a team.

Entry Requirements
1. Have received safety training related to a process plant.
2. Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS
level 6.
3. Have related training or work experience in a process plant.
4. Able to listen, read, speak and write English at a proficiency level
equivalent to ES Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 6.
