Powder-bed additive manufacturing processes for complex functional metallic components (Classroom & Asynchronous)
About This Course
• Conventional manufacturing processes has its constraints in capabilities for fabricating complex shaped components or products at fast turn-around time or at low manufacturing cost, particularly for customisation based production under the high-mix-low-volume business demand. Additive manufacturing is an emerging manufacturing process technologies addressing the gap.
• This module will learn metal powder-bed additive manufacturing processes to fabricate complex functional metallic components.
• The trainees will understand the entire process flow (pre- and post-processes) that is critical for the fabrication of metallic components.
• With the guidance of experts in additive manufacturing, learners will be able to get hands-on experience on metal powder-bed AM technologies.
What You'll Learn
• Fundamentals of additive manufacturing (AM) processes and general applications for metallic components
• Powder materials production technique, material considerations and metallurgy
• Thermodynamic characteristics of metals and alloys
• Materials’ characterisations
• Applications and operational parameters of powder-bed Selective Laser Melting (SLM) or Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) machines
• Applications and operational parameters of powder-bed Electron Beam Melting (EBM) machine
• Applications and operational parameters of powder-bed Binder Jet (BJ) 3D printing machine
• Post processing of AM components including surface machining, polishing and heat treatment
