What You'll Learn
Protection Scheme
• Understand the Protective Devices and characteristics of circuit breakers and fuses
• Understand Current Transformer ratings and specifications
• Carry out Secondary and Primary Injection tests
• Practise the internal setting of Moulded Case Circuit Breaker of LV switchboard as well as setting of the Earth Leakage relay
• Explain fault level for LV switchboard
Operation and Maintenance of Distribution Transformer
• Types of distribution transformers
• Apply transformer concepts in voltage regulations such as tap changing
• Understand de-energisation and on-load tap changing and what LV customer would experience with the different tap changes
• Explain the protection schemes for distribution transformer as well as power transformer
• Explain purpose of tests on distribution transformer and its connection to the LV ends of the LV Board/LV Switchboard
• Carry out the tests conducted on distribution transformer
• List the maintenance procedures for distribution transformer
• Case histories of transformer faults and the effects on customers
