About This Course
On completion of this unit, learners will have knowledge and skills to perform safety assessment for hot work certification in shipbuilding and ship-repairing environment.
What You'll Learn
PS1. Identify common hazards in shipyard, ship building and ship repairing environment
PS2. Propose gas monitoring instruments to obtain representative atmospheric measurements
PS3. Perform gas test using meters to measure and detect oxy-gen, flammable and toxic vapours/gases
PS4. Propose periodic monitoring schedule for common hazards
PS5. Perform hot-work assessments in line with Permit-To-Work (PTW) system in shipyards and
Vessel Safety Coordination Committee (VSCC) requirements

Entry Requirements
Successfully completed a Technical Diploma from an approved Technical College OR WSH equivalent to Advanced Certificate in WSH or 5 years of relevant working experience in operations and co-ordination of safety work AND Attained ESS WPLN 6 or 'O' level English Grade 6 & 'O' level Maths Grade 6.
