What You'll Learn
Inbound marketing (also called "pull" marketing") is differentiated from outbound marketing, in that rather than "pushing" marketing content to the customer base, the marketing content itself "pulls" the customer base it it. Viewers are drawn to the marketing content because they were interested in it from the beginning. Examples of inbound marketing are through blogposts about products written by opinion-leaders, viral videos showcases/demos, influencers' listing the product as their personal favorite, and social media pages that have significant fanbase because of appealing content. Inbound marketing favours a more personalized approach to marketing, tailoring the marketing content to viewers who are more likely to be interested.
Challenges for implementing inbound marketing include identifying fanbases that match the product's target customer base, creation of content that will "pull" in viewership, and the tracking of/utilization of inbound marketing data to improve the marketing campaign. This course will aim to address these performance gaps within the retail industry.
