What You'll Learn
This module covers the fundamental knowledge and skills required to design lighting for theatre and “live” entertainment. It equips students with the essential skills to realise a basic lighting design that provides an entertaining and meaningful experience for audiences. Students also develop competencies in general lighting language necessary to collaborate with creative and production team members. Most lessons involve mini projects that students produce collaboratively in teams, which simulate designing in a theatre or site-specific environment. By the end of the module, students would have cultivated an appreciation for lighting design, and acquired the necessary skills to technically draft a lighting design plan, and programme basic lighting states that support an artistic vision.
