About This Course
This 2-day course will introduce key sustainable concepts, accompanied by case studies of projects completed with and without sustainable practices. Studies will be provided to showcase the direct and indirect impact that buildings and interior spaces can have on the greater environment as well as personal well-being.
What You'll Learn
This training is designed to assist fellow interior designers and architects who want to make a difference by integrating sustainable design ideas and principles into their environment they design and build. Interior designers and architects must know that they play an important and vital role in creating a Green culture.
Our designs will have far reaching consequences for the near and the distant future. Green interior design should be a focal point for all building and construction works today as businesses, Government and the people begin to critically examine its effect on the environment. However the sad truth is, most interior design and architectural practices do not know where and how to start. Most do not go beyond implementing recycling programs or relying on working with the Government guideline as a basis. The issue of simply relying on guidelines set by the Government is the over generalisation with a fixed set of metrics to determine success rate. This is not the best way to measure because inhabitants of a space are usually unique and patterns of usage, abuse and neglect will usually determine the outcome of success rate.
In truth, a certain amount of self discovery and the willingness to explore creatively is needed to be green. As creative professionals, we must heed the calling and rise to the challenge to create beautiful environments that are sustainable and environmentally friendly. In this training, case studies of projects with and without practicing sustainability will be showcased. Statistics, graphs and graphics will be provided to showcase the direct and indirect impact, buildings and interior spaces can have onto the environment as well as their own personal wellbeing.
