What You'll Learn

This module aims to educate participants on frailty and fall prevention in the elderly population. Participants would gain theory and practical knowledge on the different types of screening and physical assessments, the health and fitness components and the importance of balance and mobility in this population. This module also provides the tools to plan and implement the different types of exercises and/or functional fitness programmes safely and effectively in order for the senior or elderly population to live independent lives.

Entry Requirements

a. Local Polytechnic Diploma or higher qualifications of any discipline which offer module(s) in any of the following areas:

• Allied Health
• Humanities and Social Sciences
• Sports Sciences
• Health Promotion
• Sports Coaching
• Public Health

b. Applicants with Local Polytechnic Diploma or higher qualifications but not taken any of the abovementioned academic modules e.g. Diploma in IT, may qualify for the programme with at least 2 years relevant working experience

c. Applicants do not meet the above entry requirement may be required to be further assessed through an interview and/or submission of a written essay on a given topic. Relevant experience encompasses additional related trainings, short course, workshops, or certifications obtained.
