About This Course

This is a module under the Specialist Diploma in Building Information Modelling Management.

What You'll Learn

This module aims at providing trainees with the work processes involved during Design Coordination. Trainees will be introduced firstly to the challenges faced during Design Processes when using BIM. Both Lectures and Lab practices will be conducted to facilitate learning. A critical focus is placed on the transition to the CORENET X ecosystem, where trainees will learn the requirements for 3D BIM-based regulatory submissions. The module introduces Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) standards and the IFC+SG mapping required for automated regulatory checking to meet the October 2026 mandatory mandate. Next, the module will also provide trainees with skillsets on how to use BIM for Design Visualisation and how to conduct Spatial Coordination amongst different disciplines models.

Entry Requirements

The applicant shall be a graduate of a relevant Architectural, Landscape Architectural, Civil & Structural Engineering, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering or other related diplomas, with prior BIM software knowledge, from any of the polytechnics in Singapore. Applicants with other equivalent qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The prior BIM knowledge and skills may be attained through applicant's Graduate Diploma or equivalent qualification, in any Core or Elective Module, or through attending any BIM Basic/Fundamental short courses from any Polytechnic or recognised institution e.g. BCA Academy, etc. Applicants must provide a certification of proof for the above in their application. The prior knowledge should include either:
• Autodesk Revit or
• Graphisoft ArchiCad or
• Bentley Aecosim
