About This Course

This is a module under the Specialist Diploma in Building Information Modelling Management.

What You'll Learn

This module aims at providing trainees with the knowledge on using BIM for construction projects. Both Lectures and Lab practices will be conducted to facilitate learning. Trainees will first be introduced to the concepts of Construction Planning and Coordination. Secondly, trainees will also be introduced to BIM application areas in construction projects. Thirdly, trainees will learn how to use 4D BIM for construction management, where they will be trained with software skillsets. A key component of this module is the integration of Advanced Manufacturing and Assembly (AMA) and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA). Lectures cover how 4D/5D BIM facilitates automation in the supply chain to enhance efficiency. The module also aims to teach trainees on how to use 5D BIM for cost estimation, where there will be hands-on opportunities.

Entry Requirements

The applicant shall be a graduate of a relevant Architectural, Landscape Architectural, Civil & Structural Engineering, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering or other related diplomas, with prior BIM software knowledge, from any of the polytechnics in Singapore. Applicants with other equivalent qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The prior BIM knowledge and skills may be attained through applicant's Graduate Diploma or equivalent qualification, in any Core or Elective Module, or through attending any BIM Basic/Fundamental short courses from any Polytechnic or recognised institution e.g. BCA Academy, etc. Applicants must provide a certification of proof for the above in their application. The prior knowledge should include either:
• Autodesk Revit or
• Graphisoft ArchiCad or
• Bentley Aecosim
