• Explain the role of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and its’ system interfaces in an Automation systems
• Design and program PLC software control using Ladder Diagram and Structured Text
• Design a web-based Human Machine Interface (HMI) for the PLC program
• Troubleshoot a PLC program and identify areas for improvement
• Explain the use of OPC-UA as the linkage of PLC to Industry 4.0
What You'll Learn
Automation systems are used predominantly to solve problems faced by production facilities but it can also be used to solve problems at home. Learning the basics of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) technology will give you the knowledge to automate tasks performed around the house.
This course introduces you to the basics of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), which is the brain behind the industrial automation. Widely used Ladder Diagram instructions and Structured Text with relevant case studies will be covered in this course.
You will learn circuit design and interactive simulation of electrical control system. Using a simple and intuitive web-based Human Machine Interface (HMI), you will learn how to control and troubleshoot control circuit. Designing your own electrical circuit and customising the HMI, this course is a good foundation for engineers, service and maintenance personnel.
This course will be a bridge for intermediate and advance industrial automation geared towards Industry 4.0, as the standard protocol, Open Platform Communications United Architecture (OPC UA), will be explained in the course.
