What You'll Learn
To work as a food handler in a Professional Food Service Organisation in Singapore, one must be a certified by the relevant authorities. Food Safety Course Level 1, is the course that leads to this mandatory certification. This course was previously known as Basic Food Hygiene Course (Follow Food & Beverage Safety and Hygiene Policies and Procedures).
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA), together with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), have revised the old course and renamed it as 'Food Safety Course Level 1' under the TSC name of Food Safety and Hygiene Level 1 with effect from 30 November 2020. The new course brings consistency in the training curriculum and assessment across retail and non-retail food businesses, in alignment with the refreshed SSG Skills Framework (SFw) for Food Services.
The training duration of this course is 6 hours and 1.5 Hours (90 minutes) will be needed for the assessment. Upon successful completion of the course and passing the assessment, a Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded to the participants. This will certify the participants to work in food and beverage preparation and also is a pre-requisite to operate a food shop/stall.
