NSA - Chinese Calligraphy Intermediate Course (Mandarin)

About This Course

To teach participants the fundamental techniques of brush strokes of Xingshu of Chinese calligraphy and the writing conventions of Xingshu writings. After mastering the basic strokes of regular Kaishu, intermediate learners will be taught the more free-flowing Xingshu. In this semi-cursive style, learner will learn a series of writing conventions, including the linking of the strokes , simplification and merging strokes, adjustments to stroke order and the distribution of text. Learners will be able to develop their own character in this style of writing through guided practices on classic passages and poems. At the end of this course, seniors will become competent calligraphers in enjoying and creating art pieces including writing their own spring couplets> This will enable seniors to be more involved in social interactions in communities they live in and prevent social exclusion.
