Diploma in Infocomm & Digital Media (Cyber Security)
About This Course
The Diploma in Infocomm & Digital Media (Cyber Security) aims to equip adult learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills to protect digital assets and defend organisations against cybersecurity threats. The course develops core competencies in network security, threat monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability assessment, preparing learners for entry-level cybersecurity roles in Security Operations Centres (SOC) and Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) teams.
The Diploma in Infocomm & Digital Media (Cyber Security) focuses on developing cybersecurity operations and assessment skills that are applied in areas such as security monitoring, vulnerability assessment, and incident response. It equips IT support professionals, network technicians, or learners with equivalent roles with the knowledge and skills required to undertake new roles that include Associate Security Analyst and Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing Analyst in the Infocomm Technology (ICT) sector.
What You'll Learn
• Monitor and analyse network and system logs in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) environment, identify suspicious activities, assess potential security incidents, and escalate threats for further investigation.
• Perform vulnerability assessments by scanning IT systems and networks using industry-standard tools, interpret vulnerability scan results, prioritise risks, and recommend remediation strategies.
• Conduct penetration testing on networks and applications to identify exploitable vulnerabilities, execute controlled exploitation techniques, document findings, and communicate risks and mitigation measures to stakeholders.
• Configure and implement security controls to protect network devices, servers, and endpoints, apply best practices in system hardening, firewall configuration, and intrusion prevention.
• Gather and analyse cyber threat intelligence from open-source and commercial sources, evaluate indicators of compromise (IOCs), track emerging threats, and contribute to proactive defence measures.
• Apply security compliance and governance frameworks (e.g., PDPA, Cybersecurity Act, ISO/IEC 27001), assess organisational security policies, ensure compliance, and contribute to audit and risk management processes.
