Knowledge:
K1 Plant propagation methods and procedures
K2 Types of plant materials, seeds, cuttings, buds and grafts used for propagation
K3 Treatments for pests and diseases
K4 Components and mixing proportions for various growing media
K5 Guidelines for handling plant materials and propagation media
K6 Plant nutrition and aftercare requirements, methods and procedures
K7 Housekeeping, waste management and hygiene procedures for plant propagation facilities
K8 Personal protective Equipment (PPE) required for horticultural tasks
K9 Relevant workplace safety and health (WSH) guidelines
Abilities:
A1 Select the appropriate methods of propagation for the species according to prescribed guidelines
A2 Collect, process and treat plant propagation materials
A3 Prepare appropriate tools, equipment, containers, propagating media and additives for propagation
A4 Maintain hygiene in propagation areas to minimise contamination risk
A5 Execute plant propagation techniques in accordance with prescribed procedures
A6 Provide water, nutrition and aftercare to plants after propagation
A7 Record propagation activities for compliance and reporting
A8 Adhere to relevant WSH practices and guidelines for plant propagation activities

Entry Requirements
The basic entry requirements will ensure that learning is pitched at a correct level:
• Basic requirement is Minimum Primary to early Secondary level be able to listen and write English as a proficiency level of the Employability skills workforce skills qualification (ES WSQ LV2) workplace Literacy
• Minimum service industrial experience for at least 1-2 years or have prior experience in similar capacity
• Learners who are interested to learn to set up their own farm or garden.
