About This Course

The course aims to equip educators/ curriculum pedagogues/ centre leaders with the essential knowledge, skills and dispositions to:

1. Activate and sustain children's interest in language and literacy learning through drama strategies and techniques.

2. Facilitate children's acquisition of literacy skills through developmentally appropriate drama strategies and conventions.

3. Employ relevant drama strategies and conventions to plan customised and developmentally appropriate pedagogical practices according to diverse needs of children to facilitate meaningful daily learning experiences and activities.

What You'll Learn

This 2-day (14 hour) course aims to make language and literacy teaching and learning a playful and creative experience for both teachers and learners. Teachers will develop an understanding and appreciation of the value of drama as a pedagogy and an art form in the development of a WHOLE child. They will discover how they can apply a variety of drama strategies, intentionally, to promote agency and voice, empowering children of diverse learning needs and abilities to actively engage in constructing meaningful experiences for themselves and others.
