WSQ Unmanned Aircraft Technology and Piloting Course
About This Course
Over the recent years, unmanned aircraft (commonly known as drone) technology has been advancing rapidly and matured significantly. This has made unmanned aircraft (UA) a commodity which is very stable to operate with a very decent camera as the payload. Companies and individuals have started to realise that they can use UA technology to carry out aerial shoots, with the relevant permits and licences from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). Besides engaging external vendors which can be costly, companies are currently exploring in-house capabilities in harnessing UA technology so that they could take their own aerial shoots (eg. area mapping / inspection) while enjoying more cost savings in the long term. Based on CAAS statistics, there are currently more than 1200 UAPL holders and increasing at 3-5% monthly. There are also more than 200-300 activity permit applications monthly which indicate the high level of UA usage and interest in the industry.
Currently, there are many basic UA-flying courses that equip learners with the basic operation of UA. The market lacks a course that can equip learners with the preparation of the UA, handling of emergency situations as well as the industrial application of the technology to bring out the purpose of the operations. The ideal course will also cover the legal, operational and safety considerations behind the planning and execution of the shoots.
The course is targeted at helping staff to acquire:
1. An understanding and appreciation of the available UA technology;
2. The know-how to set up and dismantle UA in preparation for aerial shoots;
3. The know-how to apply for and maintain permits, licenses and approvals for aerial shoots;
4. The know-how to maintain and care for the UA;
5. Appreciation on how UA technology can be used for industry applications
