About This Course
Appreciate the difference between Technical and Adaptive Challenges
- Appreciating that issues relating to upholding organisational values in the context of daunting market pressures are in the realm of adaptive challenges, which require a generative-change approach and not only a problem-solving approach.
- Participants will be introduced to key concepts and will share their own experiences of adaptive challenges with a view to deepening the understanding of adaptive challenges.
Map the complexity of adaptive challenges through the approach of Polarity Mapping
- Participants will be introduced to the key concepts in Polarity Thinking. They will then be provided a list of key universal organisational polarities for them to select what is most relevant to their context. Participants will also be invited to generate additional
polarities if needed to address their contextual circumstances better. They will then undertake a polarity mapping exercise to address a key adaptive challenge in their context.
Assess the Intensity of the Identified Polarities
- Participants will be guided to assess the intensity of the identified polarities.
Use Polarity Thinking as One Tool in Creating Sustainable Change
- Participants will look briefly at how Polarity Thinking is a valuable tool in discovering the complexities in teams and organisations and how when Polarity Thinking is combined with other human-centric approaches, sustainable change may emerge
