About This Course

Harmonics are increasingly responsible for causing operational problems and damages to power system and the connected equipment. Preventing or fixing harmonics problems may be challenging without adequate understanding of the nature of harmonic as testified by many cases where harmonics were wrongly blamed, with consequential expenses on harmonic mitigations poorly justified. The course will help industry gain expertise in minimising harmonics interferences through prudent processes in the designs, manufacturing, installation, comissioning and maintenance activities.

What You'll Learn

1. explain the fundamental concept of harmonics
2. recognize the various issues of power system harmonics for new projects
3. Identify the sources and effects of harmonics in existing facilities
4. interpret requirements for harmonic control
5. Analyze fundamental harmonic problems
6. conduct harmonics measurement and interpret results
7. evaluate and choose the appropriate methods of harmonic control and mitigations

Entry Requirements

Participants should have fundamental knowledge in electrical engineering in order to gain full benefits from the course
