What You'll Learn
n Singapore, the expanding longevity among seniors and fertility decline are contributing to the greying of its population. By 2030, one in four Singaporeans living amongst us will be aged 65 years and above. This silver tsunami has created new and increasing demands on Singapore’s healthcare system because it is associated with a higher prevalence of chronic health conditions among seniors. Seniors, specifically those with chronic conditions, often lack sufficient knowledge about their condition, health promoting behaviours like regular exercising and healthy nutrition, thus resulting in poor self-care skills. Hence, this course will help you understand seniors better, promote healthy behaviours including exercise and nutrition and prepare you to work with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare staff to keep seniors living in the community healthy.
