About This Course
Conducting planned, controlled experiments on industrial processes can save substantial money, time and resources, by optimising the total number of trials that needs to be conducted to obtain data and thereby draw valid, actionable conclusions. On this course, participants will learn basics of statistical thinking and inference that are necessary to analyse experimental data. Thy will then learn how to design and analyse such experiments to produce actionable conclusions and improve processes.
The course will include practical cases and instruction, using catapults to demonstrate the basics of process experimentation while generating ‘live’ data.
What You'll Learn
In the food business, abundance data is generated/recorded daily, from food product development, food sensory analysis, processing/scientific data analysis, food quality control, and etc. Poorly designed experiment, which produce bad data that leads to wrong conclusions and bad business decisions, is catastrophic. Statistics is an useful tool for everyone in the food industry, to gain valuable insight from the data. This course is basic and broad in nature, it covers the theory and rationale of important statistical procedure, and the use of MS Excel to perform multiple statistical tests. It is suitable for managers, engineers, technologists, chemists, quality specialists, or anyone who deals with numbers in the food industry.
