What You'll Learn
The course offers an essential comprehension of key subjects concerning satellite testing, enabling learners to explore the role of the space sector in the digital economy and gain insights into the necessary space and ground infrastructure required for satellite-based digital applications. This course is part of an initiative to cultivate the ecosystem of the Singapore space sector by providing professional learning and upskilling opportunities for individuals working or aspiring to work in the Singapore space industry. The course covers a range of topics including spacecraft environment interaction, space systems verification as well as radiation effects and testing.
The global space industry is projected to expand to a market size of US$1 trillion by 2040, compared to less than US$400 billion in 2020. The majority of this growth can be attributed to the emerging "new space" industry, which provides connectivity through space and valuable information derived from the analysis of satellite data. This growth contributes significantly to the digital transformation of the terrestrial economy. This course aims to provide professional training to prepare individuals for the digital economy generated by the space industry.
Upon completion of the course, learners will acquire an understanding of the crucial factors involved in establishing a robust and dependable satellite testing framework. By gaining proficiency in these fundamentals of satellite testing, they will also explore the critical role of testing in identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring functionality, and optimizing system performance. Furthermore, they will grasp the impact of these factors on satellite performance, reliability, and mission success.
