About This Course

The twentieth century can be called the Golden Age of Tamil prose. The advents of theEuropeans and the advances in printing have made vast strides in prose possible. This courseexposes students to a wide range of modern Tamil writing styles. Since the beginning of the19th century, the development of Tamil prose has been closely aligned with India’s religious,social and political movements. Students will study the fiction, non-fiction, drama and novelsof renowned authors from Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore to learn differentstylistic variations, contents and forms
