Adaptability In the Face of Disruptive Change: Practice Beyond the Theory
About This Course
This 2-day programme is designed to equip participants with the mindset, frameworks, and practical tools to strengthen adaptability and perform effectively in the face of accelerating technological and organisational disruption in today’s workplace. The course positions adaptability as a core human capability essential for navigating uncertainty, responding to continuous change, and sustaining performance in dynamic environments.
Participants will explore how individuals typically respond to change, including psychological and emotional reactions such as resistance and fear, and examine how these factors can impact decision-making and behaviour. The programme introduces practical strategies to help participants reframe challenges, manage uncertainty, and strengthen adaptive thinking in both personal and organisational contexts.
A range of established change frameworks, including the Kübler-Ross model, the Bridges Transition Model, and the Transtheoretical Model, are introduced as structured tools to support adaptive responses in different change situations. These are complemented by practical techniques such as the “5 Whys” method and reflective journaling, enabling participants to develop deeper awareness, improve problem-solving, and navigate complexity more effectively.
The course further develops core adaptability skillsets, including unlearning and relearning, experimentation and exploration, and “what if” thinking to support opportunity recognition and responsive decision-making. In addition, participants build resilience through the development of a growth mindset, deliberate practice habits, and a stronger sense of purpose and engagement at work. The programme concludes with participants developing and presenting an individual implementation action plan, enabling them to translate learning into practical workplace application and strengthen their ongoing adaptability.
