Overview of Singapore Healthcare Landscape (Part of SCTP)
About This Course
This course provides a foundational understanding of healthcare economics, health regulations, and the rationale behind Singapore’s health policies, equipping learners to navigate complexities and contribute effectively to the sector. Participants will start with the essentials—what healthcare and health systems are, their impact in developed and developing countries, and how public healthcare and system organization influence outcomes such as life expectancy. They will then explore key principles of healthcare economics, including demand and supply dynamics, resource allocation, and common challenges faced by health systems worldwide.
Building on this framework, the course highlights Singapore’s healthcare landscape: the Ministry of Health and its policies, the structure of healthcare services, the nation’s health status and challenges, and recent policy changes. By connecting economic concepts with current developments, the course offers both conceptual tools and contextual insight, enabling participants to understand, engage with, and contribute meaningfully to Singapore’s healthcare sector.
This course is part of the 3-month (SCTP) Certificate in Healthcare Administration.
