2. Conduct skills assessment for 1 Star in accordance to SCF requirements;
3. Apply risk assessment when conducting kayaking activitiesin Singapore.
What You'll Learn
Kayaking is a popular outdoor activity in Singapore, and it is also often part of outdoor learning programmes. As a job requirement in most outdoor education organisations, the educator is required to have kayak coaching level 1 under the Singapore Canoe Federation (SCF) to supervise kayaking activities and to conduct kayak proficiency certifications.
This course introduces skills and concepts and principles of kayak coaching. Topics include implementing SCF 1-star syllabus, 1-star skill assessment, risks assessment and management, coaching concepts and theories, and coaching process. The emphasis is for aspirant kayak coaches* to develop skills in leading participants safely and competently in kayak outdoor pursuits, primarily in coastal and tropical contexts. This course is aligned with the Coaching Level 1 syllabus under SCF.
