About This Course
The Master of Communication (MOC) is offered by the Department of Communications and New Media in the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
In a relentlessly volatile media landscape shaped by technological advances and content proliferation, media professionals must be agile to keep pace with constant change.
Today, content is king, holding court on digital platforms that reach millions of people every day. The challenge for organisations in this age is to harness the power of content and wield it strategically to communicate effectively with their stakeholders.
The MOC recognises that competency gap in the market, an is proud to be the first graduate programme to fill that void. We provide mentorship to groom our students into leaders in the digital field, and equip our graduates with cutting-edge expertise to firmly grasp the essence of data in their communication plans.
Our programme contains three specialisations: Strategic Communication, Data and Communication, and Global Media Communication.
What You'll Learn
The Master of Communication is in line with the facultys approach to introducing a separate coursework programme that will enhance students knowledge of practical applications of Communication theories and principles, coupled with the evolving needs of New Media. The programme is structured in order to incorporate a learning path based on inquiry-driven and problem-solving approaches to the changing needs of the Communication industry. The hands-on component of the Master of Communication will enhance the level of skills that the students possess and will inculcate the passion for life-long learning. The Master of Communication will also address the industry need for students to translate Communication theories into practical solutions that fulfil specific needs or gaps, leading to the growth of the organisation and to addressing organisational problems through the combined tools of research and strategy. Given the multi-disciplinary approach of the programme, students will develop the ability to adapt quickly to changes and different environments in their career, as well as combine their knowledge of different areas to strengthen innovation.
