About This Course
At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
1. Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the diversity of agency relationships;
2. Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the reasons for use of agency law;
3. State and describe when, how, and why agency relationships are created and terminated;
4. State and describe the effects of agency in the legal relations between principal and third party, agent and third party, and principal and agent;
5. Apply the law in England and Wales and Singapore to given hypothetical scenarios; and
6. Evaluate the current law.

This course provides a detailed examination of the principles of agency law. Broadly speaking, agency involves one person acting for another. Agents may be of many different kinds spanning different settings and industries. Shop assistants, solicitors, auctioneers, estate agents, are common examples of agents. This course covers both �internal� and �external� dimensions of agency. Topics covered include definitions of agency, how agency relationships are created, different types of authority, agency's application outside contract, and the rights and duties between principal and agent.
