About This Course
This course will provide an appreciation and foundational understanding of the following:
1. Basic investment terminology and concepts;
2. The huge role that regulators and industry bodies (not just legislation), play in the industry;
3. How regulatory issues often span across geographical boundaries and legal jurisdictions;
4. The dynamic state of flux of regulations in this field and how regulators come to grips with new regulatory challenges;
5. The immensity of the scope of regulatory issues that a fund management company has to deal with. This can be complicated by fund managers that are part of a larger group of companies; and
6. How regulatory requirements and regulators� expectations are implemented in practice within a fund management company.
What You'll Learn
This course focuses on the law, directives and guidelines pertaining to the conduct of investment management activity in Singapore. The primary focus is on the regulatory regime in Singapore but significant elements of selected foreign regulatory regimes affecting investment managers in Singapore will also be introduced. Some of the latest industry trends will be examined. The course is tailored to lay a foundation for those considering a career in the investment management industry, either as a legal practitioner in a law firm or as an in-house legal counsel or compliance officer within an investment management company.
