About This Course
Essentials of Teaching and Learning is a course designed for Teaching-Artists working in the Singapore schools. Combining both asynchronous and synchronous online teaching approaches, this course equips Teaching-Artists with the skills and knowledge to conduct arts programmes in schools. This course consists of five parts:
- Psychology of Learning
- Curriculum Planning
- Lesson Planning and Assessment
- Facili-Acting
- e-Pedagogy
It seeks to introduce Teaching-Artists to key concepts in teaching and learning, and the common language used in education for better communication with key stakeholders in schools. In addition, it prepares the Teaching-Artists for the digital arts classrooms and skills in facilitating arts learning.
What You'll Learn
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
1. Gain a basic understanding of the key concepts in teaching and learning, the learning dispositions and capabilities of children and youth;
2. Be able to write basic curriculum and lesson plans, and design effective assessments for evaluation of learning;
3. Reflect on their teaching and facilitation of learning in the arts classrooms and further improve their pedagogical approaches; and
4. Be prepared to enact curriculums for both in-person and digital classrooms.
