About This Course
This short course aims to provide Mother Tongue (Chinese) early years and preschool educators with an overview of the updated NEL Framework 2022. Key updates to NEL Framework 2022 and enhanced contents will be covered. Participants will delve into strategies for fostering Values, Social and Emotional Competencies, and Learning Dispositions (VSLD) in children during Chinese Language (CL) lessons. The course will provide insight into the five learning areas and highlight the pivotal roles of CL teachers. Participants will learn how to elevate their Chinese lessons by applying iTeach principles, taking reference from the NEL Framework 2022, and developing integrated learning plans tailored to their classrooms.
What You'll Learn
1. Demonstrate understanding of the key messages of NEL Framework 2022 and the key updates;
2. Identify beliefs about children and the key areas of development essential for character building and lifelong learning: Values, Social and Emotional Competencies and Learning Dispositions (VSLD) and incorporate VSLD into Chinese Language (CL) lessons;
3. Understand the five Learning Areas and the respective learning goals;
4. Demonstrate understanding and application of iTeach Principles in CL lessons; and
5. Analyse the roles of CL teachers in nurturing CL for children
Entry Requirements
1) Be ECDA-certified as L1 or L2 teacher
2) Currently employed in a childcare registered or licensed with ECDA
