Overview of NEL Framework 2022 and Application to Practice (Malay) (Classroom Facilitated Training)
About This Course
This short course aims to provide Mother Tongue (Malay) early years and preschool educators with an overview of the updated NEL Framework 2022. Key updates to NEL Framework 2022 and enhanced contents will be covered. Participants will also explore how to nurture Values, Social and Emotional Competencies as well as Learning Dispositions in children (VSLD) during Malay and Tamil lessons. They will also gain understanding of the five learning areas, application of iTeach Principles and the important role of ML teachers. Participants will co-construct knowledge of how NEL Framework 2022 can be applied in practice to produce quality MTL lessons.
What You'll Learn
1. Demonstrate understanding of key messages of NEL Framework 2022 and the key updates;
2. Identify beliefs about children and the key areas of development essential for character building and lifelong learning: Values, Social and Emotional Competencies and Learning Dispositions (VSLD) in Mother Tongue Language (ML) lessons;
3. Understand the five Learning Areas and the respective learning goals;
4. Demonstrate understanding and application of iTeach Principles in ML and TL lessons; and
5. Analyse the role of ML teachers in nurturing ML for children.
Entry Requirements
1) Be ECDA-certified as L1 or L2 teacher
2) Currently employed in a childcare registered or licensed with ECDA
