About This Course
This course aims to equip students with basic skills required to perform their own cost-effectiveness analyses of health technologies and to critically assess the quality of evaluations conducted by others. Students will understand different types of economic evaluation methods and how to value health gains and costs. Thus students will be equipped fundamental skills and knowledge in research design, preparing them to conduct independent research or contribute to research projects in academic, professional, or organizational settings.
What You'll Learn
This course introduces students to key concepts of economic evaluation and decision-analytic modelling, and covers methods for measuring and valuing health gains and costs. We focus on two models commonly used in cost-effectiveness analyses in healthcare: decision trees and Markov models. The course will include hands-on-training on building and analysing both types of models in Microsoft Excel so students understand how to implement these methods from first principles.
