Intermediate Drafting and Sewing
About This Course
This course provides essential skills in drafting, pattern development, and garment construction, focusing on tops with collars and basic bottoms. Participants will start by drafting basic pattern blocks for bottoms, using precise body measurements and following industrial organization standards to ensure consistent and accurate fits.
Learners will develop patterns for selected tops with collars and bottoms by manipulating basic blocks, allowing for creative design adjustments while maintaining proper fit and style. The course also covers the labeling and marking of individual pattern pieces with industry-standard symbols and notches, ensuring clarity and precision throughout the garment-making process.
Through hands-on sewing sessions, participants will construct a top with a collar and sleeve, as well as a bottom with waistband finishing and a fly opening, all according to specific measurements. The course emphasizes high-quality craftsmanship and clean finishes, and participants will learn to evaluate their sewn garments against initial specifications to verify fit and quality. In cases of non-conformance, learners will be trained to take corrective actions to meet professional standards, making this course ideal for those seeking a solid foundation in garment construction and quality assurance.
