Working with Families and Children with Diverse Needs (Synchronous E-learning)
About This Course
An inclusive society draws no boundary between cultures, socioeconomic statuses or (dis)ability in our people. As Singapore works towards our 2030 mission in achieving an inclusive society, various services such as our social service, early childhood and healthcare sectors play a very important role in contributing towards this goal.
This is a beginning-to-mid skilled level course that is aimed to expose and align our learners to the principles of diversity and inclusion advocated in the various instruments of the world's leading advocacy bodies, such as the United Nations. They will also benefit from the extensive knowledge of the current issues and trends in diversity and inclusion, and in applying theoretical frameworks to achieve a holistic understanding of families and children with different backgrounds and needs.
With these holistic understanding, our learners will then learn about different strategies to work with diversity in accordance with their organizational inclusive philosophy, missions and values. These include using effective communication skills and non-discriminatory practices, such as inclusive environmental setup, provision of appropriate resources, deploying UDL, and working with the relevant community partners and experts.
