Introduction to Cybersecurity (Synchronous & Asynchronous e-learning)
About This Course
This module introduces participants to the foundational concepts of cybersecurity. It covers the basics of networking, including IP addresses, ports, Domain Name System (DNS), and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), which are essential for understanding how data travels across networks. Participants will also learn about Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and its importance in cybersecurity. The module provides an overview of network data, preparing students to analyze and interpret information for security purposes. By the end of this module, participants will have a solid understanding of the fundamental principles of cybersecurity, setting the stage for more advanced topics in the field.
What You'll Learn
1. Convert between different number bases (e.g., decimal, binary, hexadecimal) and perform basic arithmetic operations in various number systems.
2. Identifying the various Internet Protocol (IP) addresses related to internal and external network, domain name system (dns), dynamic host configuration protocol (dchp), and loopback address
3. Comprehensive understanding of various network services (e.g., dns, dhcp, file transfer protocol (ftp))
4. Employ advanced search techniques to gather valuable information from the internet, analyze and interpret Open-source intelligence (osint) data, and assess its relevance to security and research purposes.
5. Generate and verify hash values, and understand the importance of data integrity in information security.
6. Using the windows command prompt to perform essential system administration tasks, troubleshoot issues
7. Understanding of the seven layers of the open systems interconnection (osi) model, their functions, and how data flows through each layer, enabling them to troubleshoot network issues more effectively.
8. Capture and analyze network traffic using tools such as wireshark, identify common network anomalies and security threats, and develop strategies to optimize network performance and security.
Entry Requirements
Basic Information technology (IT) literacy
It is recommended the participant to have at least 1 year of working experience in IT industry.
