About This Course

This is a module under the Diploma in Border & Security Management.

What You'll Learn

This module covers the relevant legislations concerning border control in Singapore and the empowerment of its immigration officers. Topics regarding the Immigration Act will include the various categories of residents and transient visitors and how their stay is governed within the country, the powers accorded to the Controller of Immigration, as well as the checks and balances in place. Topics regarding the Customs Act will include the concept of customs areas and its relevance to immigration officers in terms of power to conduct checks at the borders. The Criminal Procedure Code will then be examined on how it accords immigration officers with the necessary legal powers to perform their duties.

Entry Requirements

GCE ‘O’ Levels:
3 relevant passes and 1-year relevant working experience:
Subjects/Min. Grade:
1. English Language: Grade 6
2. Mathematics (Elementary or Additional): Grade 6
3. Physics: Grade 6

FT Nitec:
GPA > 3.5 OR GPA > 3.0 and 1 year of relevant working experience

PT Nitec in Technology/Services: GPA > 3.5 and 1 year of relevant working experience

FT Higher Nitec: GPA > 2.0 OR GPA > 1.5 and 1 year of relevant working experience

PT Higher Nitec in Technology/Services: GPA > 2.0 and 1 year of relevant working experience

WSQ Diploma: Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher) with 1 year of relevant working experience and Level 6 for both WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA & Workplace Numeracy SOA.

Without any of the relevant academic qualifications: At least 2 years of relevant working experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on supporting evidence
