About This Course
Learning the piano as a senior can contribute significantly to overall well-being, offering mental, emotional, and physical benefits that enhance quality of life.
1. Physical coordination: Practicing piano improves hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, which can be beneficial for seniors in maintaining dexterity and mobility.
2. Social interaction: Participating in Sing and Play piano lessons or group music activities can foster positive social connections and combat feelings of loneliness or isolation.
3. Memory enhancement: Learning and recalling musical pieces can enhance memory retention and retrieval skills in seniors.
What You'll Learn
Note: Roll-up piano will be provided for lessons. For the silver generation, the piano could be an instrument that was out of reach for the main population, which only the well to do can afford, during the time when Singapore is focusing on providing the basic needs for her citizens. The Basic Keyboard (Roll Up Piano) programme is a low entry to barrier introduction course which will allow the seniors to learn how to sing and play songs that they grew up with. They would be taught evergreen songs, for eg: the Carpenters, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Teresa Teng and many more. This will allow them to realize a long lost dream of being able to sing and play in the bedroom or to an audience.
