About This Course

Combining conceptual frameworks and insights from policy and industry experts, this course equips students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to drive change at multiple levels — from their immediate professional environment, through to broader societal and political landscapes. Students will learn to strategically navigate and address organisational challenges, empowering them to influence, innovate, and lead in shaping the future of healthcare sustainability.

What You'll Learn

This course is an essential component of the Master of Science in Sustainable Healthcare (MSc SH) programme, strategically complementing courses on ""Principles of Sustainable Healthcare Practice"", ""Net Zero Analytics"", and ""Climate, Environment and Health"".

Building on knowledge gained from the other courses on sustainable practices and analysis techniques, this course focuses on the ""how"" - applying practical skills and taking actionable steps to achieve healthcare decarbonisation. It bridges theoretical understanding with practical application, equipping students to effectively implement net zero initiatives within healthcare settings.

This course uniquely brings principles utilised in various disciplines, including implementation science, economics and communications, into conversation with net zero healthcare. The focus of this course is to aid development of the participant as a well-rounded individual capable of influencing and implementing change. Guest lecturers with live experience from the field will further serve to augment the sense of realism in class, for example by demonstrating the live use of strategic frameworks to decarbonise healthcare in settings such as hospital operations.
