About This Course

The Capstone Project – Cyber Security module offers a dual-track experiential learning pathway aligned with Microsoft’s security ecosystem and EC-Council’s cybersecurity certifications. Learners will choose between the Microsoft track—centered on advanced threat detection and incident response within Microsoft 365 and Azure environments—or the EC-Council track—focusing on applied ethical hacking, threat hunting, and SOC analysis. This project-based module serves as a culminating experience, enabling learners to integrate and demonstrate the full spectrum of cybersecurity skills acquired across the programme.
The Capstone Project in Cyber Security is the final hands-on simulation for learners who have completed the Security Fundamentals, Cloud Security, and Python for Cyber Security modules (Microsoft Track). Learners investigate a simulated ransomware attack and data breach within a Microsoft 365 and Azure environment, using tools like Microsoft Sentinel, 365 Defender, Entra ID, and Python scripts. They will perform threat detection, incident response, forensics, and compliance tasks, simulating attacker behaviors and applying defensive strategies. This project consolidates their technical, analytical, and procedural skills, equipping them to handle real-world cybersecurity incidents and strengthen organizational cloud security postures.
The Capstone Project in Cyber Security marks the final module for learners completing the EC-Council track: Certified Cybersecurity Technician (CCT), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and Certified SOC Analyst (CSA). Learners tackle a simulated cyber incident faced by a financial services firm—dealing with phishing, unauthorized access, and data breaches. Guided by mentors, they perform risk assessments, ethical hacking, threat hunting, forensic analysis, and incident response. Security solutions are aligned with standards like ISO 27001 and NIST. This immersive project strengthens learners’ critical thinking, technical skills, and

What You'll Learn

Learners enrolling in the Capstone Project -Cyber Security module must select either the Microsoft Track or the EC-Council Track based on their career goals and certification pathway. Each track offers outcomes designed to equip learners with job-ready cybersecurity skills. The details for each track are provided below:
Course Outcomes - Microsoft Track
Upon successful completion of the Capstone Project in the Microsoft Track, learners will possess the ability to design, implement, and manage a full-spectrum cybersecurity incident response workflow within Microsoft 365 and Azure environments. They will be capable of leveraging Microsoft security tools—such as Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, Entra ID, and Purview—to detect, analyze, and mitigate threats including ransomware, phishing, and data exfiltration. Learners will apply advanced threat-hunting techniques, perform log analysis, deploy automated detection and response mechanisms, enforce data loss prevention (DLP) controls, and use deception strategies to monitor adversary behavior. Additionally, they will demonstrate the capability to communicate security strategies effectively to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with compliance, governance, and business risk objectives. This comprehensive ability empowers learners to operate as proficient cybersecurity professionals capable of defending complex enterprise cloud environments against evolving cyber threats.

Course Outcomes – EC Council track
Upon successful completion of the Capstone Project in the EC-Council Track, learners will have the ability to execute end-to-end cybersecurity operations by integrating ethical hacking, penetration testing, risk assessment, and threat response within complex IT infrastructures. They will demonstrate proficiency in identifying organizational vulnerabilities, deploying security controls across cloud and on-premise environments, and managing SIEM platforms for real-time threat detection and analysis.
