About This Course
This course gives an understanding of the indoor environment and mechanical engineering systems including ventilation, air conditioning and vertical transportation systems. The module aims to raise awareness of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) 3: ‘Good Health and Well Being’ and UN SDG 11: ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’ and UN SDG 9: ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’.
What You'll Learn
By the end of the course, participants will be able to handle the operational aspects of facilities management related to indoor environment optimization through mechanical systems, including:
1) Manage, monitor, and maintain ventilation, air conditioning, and vertical transportation systems, ensuring their optimal performance and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
2) Troubleshoot and address system malfunctions, ensuring quick resolution of issues to minimise downtime and ensure continuous operation.
3) Implement preventive maintenance strategies for mechanical systems to reduce repair costs, improve system longevity, and increase operational efficiency.
4) Optimise energy consumption in the operation of these systems, contributing to cost savings and sustainable building management practices.
5) Ensure a healthy indoor environment, considering the indirect impact of ventilation and air conditioning systems on indoor air quality and occupant comfort.
6) Align facilities management practices with United Nations standards.
