Foundations in Clinical Supervision for Senior Practitioner Psychologists (Classroom and Synchronous e-Learning)
About This Course
Clinical supervision is a critical component in the professional development of psychologists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and ethical psychological services. This professional development course is designed for senior psychologists in the public sector who provide clinical supervision to trainees and early-career psychologists. The course aligns with the Singapore Psychological Society's (SPS) clinical supervision guidelines and aims to enhance supervisory skills through theoretical foundations, structured frameworks, and applied learning.
The course will cover essential aspects of clinical supervision, including establishing and maintaining strong supervisory relationships, structuring supervision effectively, and navigating professional and ethical considerations. Participants will explore best practices in assessment, evaluation, and feedback to facilitate learning and ensure supervisees' competence. Special attention will be given to the role of diversity in supervision, recognizing the impact of cultural and individual differences in clinical practice.
The program consists of training conducted across three days, incorporating online synchronous sessions to accommodate busy clinicians. Thereafter, participants will gain access to facilitated peer supervision groups. These practitioner inquiry groups will be facilitated by a course instructor to help professionals reflect, evaluate, and innovate to improve their application of learning from the course to their own clinical supervision responsibilities at work.
