About This Course
This module prepares the learner about the holistic, supportive, and social health care in individuals (and families) receiving solid organ transplant.
What You'll Learn
Topics such as rehabilitation and disability theories/models/frameworks will be discussed and critically examined. This course is designed to give students an in-depth understanding of the social policies that significantly impact patients, their families, and the clinical practice of solid organ transplants.
One of the key aspects of this course is to shed light on the vital support provided by the allied health team, including professionals from dietetics, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy. Their contributions are crucial to ensuring better post-transplant care, and by understanding the various services they provide, we can appreciate the comprehensive nature of post-transplant rehabilitation.
Following hospital discharge, nurses are expected to be knowledgeable on the nutritional needs and management of activities of daily living of the organ recipients in the community settings. Effective methods of promoting healthy living are critically discussed by drawing on evidence from prior literature.
