WSQ Emergency Care Management (L2)
About This Course
This course focuses on understanding of the cardiopulmonary system and the application of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in times of emergency.
In Learning Unit (LU) 1, learner will be introduced to the fundamental of the cardiopulmonary system of the human body. They will also be taught on the signs and symptoms of deteriorating health condition and how to identify and recognise these sign and symptoms. Gaining this knowledge will greatly aid the learner to proceed to LU2 on medical emergency situations and the appropriate response measures.
This is an essential skills and knowledge the learners need to acquire to help them better access the types of medical emergency situations so that they can effectively activate the appropriate responses and determine if they should carry out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and the use of Automated External Defibrillator following to the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation protocol and Defibrillation protocol. Upon the completion of this segment, the lesson will move on to cover LU3 - Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rescue breathing.
At this stage, learner will be imparted with the skills and knowledge in performing the necessary checks to determine the patients’ condition before applying and activating the appropriate response measures. The lesson will go into the details of the proper techniques in executing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rescue breathing.
Going in the last LU4, learners will pick up the skills and knowledge on the Automated External Defibrillator. They will be trained on the techniques to operate the device as well as adhering to the safety guidelines during its application process. To ensure resuscitation is successful, learners must be able to recognise critical vital sign exhibited by the patients and hence, the last segment will see the learners learning the proper method in monitoring patients’ vital sign.
