About This Course
The SG-Coach Excellence Programme – Dragon Boat Level One (Full Integration) provides aspiring coaches with a comprehensive foundation in Dragon Boat coaching.
Aligned with SportSG’s national coaching curriculum and developed in collaboration with MOE, the programme integrates 21st Century Competencies to ensure coaches are equipped to mentor recreational athletes effectively. This certification course adopts a holistic approach to coach development, preparing participants to not only instruct technical skills but also foster values, character, and lifelong learning in the sporting environment.
What You'll Learn
1) be equip participants with essential skills in coaching pedagogy, session planning, and feedback delivery, empowering them to lead engaging and structured training sessions.
2) be able to explain basic water safety protocols, risk assessment, and methods to foster a safe and supportive training environment.
3) be able to explain the fundamentals of physical conditioning for Dragon Boat athletes, with a focus on strength, endurance, and flexibility exercises that support paddling performance
4) be able to explain values of inclusivity, motivation, and respect, empowering coaches to create a positive and encouraging space that enhances learning and promotes a lifelong love for Dragon Boat.
Entry Requirements
Participants need to
1) have Helms Certificate from Singapore Dragon Boat Association
2) have Standard First Aid Certificate (CPR + AED)
3) demonstrate swimming proficiency by being able to swim at least 50 meters (in any swimming technique) in light clothing, both with and without a Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
