About This Course
This module is part of the Modular Certificate in Staging and Lighting Design, Diploma in Design and Media (Digital Entertainment and Events). This diploma is a comprehensive and industry-relevant programme designed for individuals seeking to build a career in the dynamic fields of live entertainment, events, and creative media production. Delivered through five Modular Certificates, the programme offers a practice-oriented learning pathway that equips students with interdisciplinary skills across production management, technical execution, design and technology.
What You'll Learn
This module covers the fundamental knowledge and skills required to design and rig lighting for theatre and “live” entertainment. It equips students with the essential skills to realise a basic lighting design that provides an entertaining and meaningful experience for audiences. Students will also develop competencies in general lighting language necessary to collaborate with creative and production team members. Most lessons involve mini collaborative team projects, which simulate designing in a theatre or site-specific environment. By the end of the module, students would have cultivated an appreciation for lighting design, and acquired the necessary skills to technically draft a lighting design plan, and programme basic lighting states that support an artistic vision.
