SMU-IPAS Advanced Certificate in Insolvency and Restructuring Module 9: Managing Insolvencies and Risk Management (Synchronous E-Learning)
About This Course
Corporate insolvency is a financial phenomenon that initially emerges as a condition of financial distress due to a shortfall of cash from current operations and a lack of liquidity from external sources. It then could evolve into a structural default in the absence of changes in operating and financing policies. Financial management is therefore decisive in reducing the probability of insolvency and maximising the attractiveness and growth potential of a firm.
This module deals with the practical aspects of managing risks in the context of insolvency laws which insolvency practitioners (IPs), such as accountants and lawyers, face when they are appointed. Whilst those laws include issues such voidable transactions that arise in insolvencies and which are covered by other modules, the focus of this module is not on the substantive issues of law and practice but more on how to manage these risks in a practical context. This module also covers regulatory aspects in the course of managing restructurings and insolvencies.
